This week we're beginning our Term 1 sermon series in Matthew's Gospel. We will be covering chapters 21 through to 28 between now and Easter.
Previously in Matthew we've seen that Jesus brings a counter Kingdom. These are the realities in Jesus' kingdom:
'the first will be last and the last will be first'
Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant'.
'For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.'
The stage has been set for a clash of the Kingdoms. The worldly kingdoms of power and success and selfishness crashes into Jesus counter Kingdom of service and selfless sacrifice.
And the challenge for us all is which kingdom will we belong to? Who will be our king? Jesus the servant King who willingly lays down his life for us? Or will we remain living for the kingdom of this world where we stay seated on the throne?
This series will be a great opportunity to bring friends and family along to hear clearly the good news about Jesus.
