I have been along to The Life Course a number of times and I am thoroughly convinced that it is a really great and effective way of sharing the best news about Jesus with people. Over the years we've seen a number of people saved through hearing the word of God at this course.

Last night was the first time I've presented the material and I was convinced again that there is no greater hope or life than what Jesus offers.

We started by asking the question - 'What are you living for?' For most the answer is happiness or fulfilment. The way we most often try to get that is through pleasure, achievement or relationships.

Riding my bike is something that brings me happiness and a sense of achievement. While I was riding my bike to work on Thursday I had two near misses. One with an aggressive garbage truck that intentionally tried to knock me over and another with a work van that did see me sprawled across the Adelaide Road and thankful I wasn't run over by a bus. It was a reminder to me of the fragility of life and the inevitability of death.

King Solomon knew about death and that it is the great leveller. In the Life Course we looked at the Book of Ecclesiastes we heard from Solomon, in all his experience and wisdom, that to live for pleasure, achievement and relationship is meaningless. 'A chasing after the wind.' The reason for this is because death wins in the end. It is the great robber at the end of life that takes away all we have achieved and accumulated.

So the answer to having a life that is filled with meaning, purpose, significance and joy is to have a life that doesn't end in death. And Jesus is the only one who can offer us this life that defeats death and continues on with him into all eternity.

At the Life Course it was great to be reminded by God's word that we have hope and life that extends beyond the grave. Who do you know who you could be inviting along this week?

Grace & peace,
Andrew
