The Annual General Meeting we had last Sunday was such an encouragement! We heard multiple stories of what God has been doing across our church family—people coming to faith for the first time, children growing as followers of Jesus, and ministry teams serving together with joy. These were just small snapshots of the many reasons we have to be thankful.
During the AGM, we also welcomed Matthew Page to our Administration Team and heard Nigel Smith share the financial report on behalf of our trustees. The official minutes will be released once approved by the Admin Team, but if you'd like to catch up on everything that took place, you can watch the YouTube recording here.
Celebrating God's Faithfulness
In my ministry update, I reflected on the goals we set for ourselves back in 2023 as we seek to multiply and mature wholehearted followers of Jesus. We've been praying and working toward becoming a church of 300 people across three congregations, with 30 people coming to faith in Jesus for the first time by the end of 2025.
What a privilege it was to report our progress! God has grown us to 310 people who call City on a Hill their home. We've planted our third congregation in the Hutt and have seen more than 20 people saved since we set these goals. Praise God for His faithful work among us!
The Work Continues
But it isn't mission accomplished! Hundreds of thousands of people in Wellington remain lost because they don't know Jesus. As God's people in this place—entrusted with the very words of eternal life—we ought to feel a deep burden to keep holding out the message about Jesus.
With this reality in mind, I've encouraged us to commit together as a church to four key areas of focus:
1. Reaching Out
Particularly through the Life Course and resourcing mission on campus, we want to be intentional about sharing the gospel with those who haven't heard it.
2. Rich Community
We're committed to getting as many people as possible into Community Groups and creating a welcoming culture that extends far beyond our Sunday gatherings.
3. Growing Leadership
We want to see more and more people equipped to serve at every level, with particular emphasis on developing Community Group leaders, team leaders, apprentices, and expanding our ministry team.
4. Prayer
Above all, we remain reliant on and expectant in our pleading with God to save the lost, mature His people, and grow His Kingdom in our city.
As we move forward together, here are some practical ways you can engage with these priorities:
Pray regularly for our church's mission and the lost in Wellington. We will be initiating a number of prayer initiatives around church and we'd love to have our whole church praying for the lost in our city. To begin with here is a list of the celebration and prayer points that were shared at the AGM.
Join a Community Group if you're not already in one and make it a priority to be there if you already have a group.
Bring a friend to the next Life Course or Sunday service.
Commit to welcoming / meeting someone new each week you are at church.
Financially partner in the work God is doing through our church.
God has been so faithful to us over these 11 years, and we trust Him for the work ahead.
Grace & peace,
Andrew
