When The Buggles were pumping out their one-hit wonder Video Killer the Radio Star they obviously hadn't seen the podcast revolution coming.

Audio content is now almost as popular and prolific as ever. The internet, smartphones, inexpensive recording equipment and podcast apps make it possible to hear from a multitude of people on almost any topic you can think of. Some of the topics in my podcast library include professional cycling, design & architecture, modern history, current events, christian ministry, cricket, politics and comedy!

There are also some fantastic podcasts out there to help God's word dwell richly amongst us and to help us think deeply about the world he has made and our place in it.

But, as with anything else on the internet, we need to be discerning as to who we're listening to and the ideas we are taking on board. We need to listen with our ears and our minds and our Bibles open so we can sort through the noise and hear what is true and helpful for our growth as followers of Jesus.

We need to be like the Bereans. When Paul arrive teaching about Jesus in Acts 16, the Bereans whipped out their Bibles to make sure what he was saying was in line with God's word.

'Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. As a result, many of them believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men.' Acts 16:11-12

One podcast I'd happily recommend is from an old friend of mine. It's called Small Wonders by Dr Laurel Moffat. Earlier today Paul was raving about the one about 'Awe'. https://undeceptions.com/small-wonders/

If you've got some gold podcast you want to share, send me a note and a link and maybe we can put together a small library of recommended listening to help us grow and mature as followers of Jesus?

Grace & peace,
Andrew
