Arrrr you serving Captain Jesus?
He’s the Master of the wind and waves.
There’s Yo, Ho, Ho, no other name
By which you can be saved!

Through scurvy, shark, and shipwreck,
In every storm and strife,
Sail on with Captain Jesus
As the treasure of your life!

Those are some of the lyrics from Arrrr You Serving Captain Jesus? - a song we sang at Pirate Mania Kids Club this week.

And what an amazing two days it was! We had 51 kids come along and around 20 leaders helping run the program. Cannons were fired, swords were made, kids walked the plank but most importantly, they heard about the greatest treasure of all: peace with God through Jesus. It was such a joy to see God at work, growing each child’s understanding of how great Jesus truly is.

One child shared in their discussion group:

“I didn’t know that Jesus came back to life—I thought he was still dead. That’s amazing!”

Another said they wanted to put their trust in Jesus, who paid the price for their sin. That same child then prayed, thanking Jesus for his forgiveness and the new life he gives.

And another child, who was nervous to come because they weren’t a Christian, said afterwards that they loved the two days. It wasn’t scary or intense, it was full of learning and fun!

Please keep praying for every child who came, and for their families, that the truths they learned about Jesus would sink deep into their hearts, and that each one would come to personally trust him.

The memory verse we focused on was Mark 10:45:

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

I am so thankful for our Saviour Jesus and for his life given for us. And I’m thankful that we now get to give our lives in service of him, telling kids, adults, everyone that Jesus has defeated sin and death and offers eternal life.

He truly is the greatest treasure in the whole wide world.

Grace and Peace
Paul
