This week, for the first time in a very long time, I was able to get along to The Life Course and it was fantastic!
If you are not familiar with The Life Course, it is our evangelistic course that seeks to share with people the greatest news about Jesus. There are lots of great courses out there but this bespoke, developed and refined in-house, to share the good news of Jesus with the people of Wellington.
On Tuesday I was struck again by the hope and the purpose that can only be found in Jesus. At the course there were a number of people who were searching meaning and they knew it.
We began by looking at Ecclesiastes and in chapter two King Solomon concludes,
'I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused no pleasure.
My heart took delight in all my labour and this was the reward for all my toil.
Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;
nothing was gained under the sun.'
After reading this one of the guests said, 'I totally agree! I thought church was all about rules and the good life was all about freedom - doing what you want when you want. But after trying that out for years I still feel empty and like my life has no meaning. I'm keen to hear what Jesus has to say and see if he can make sense of things.'
This moment reminded me again that the world doesn't have the answer but only Jesus does. And what a privilege and honour we have to share the hope of the gospel with people who are desperate and hungry to hear it.
So, who can you be inviting to The Life Course? Or can you be praying for those who are there this week?
Grace & peace,
Andrew
