Many of us would have felt a sense of relief at the news this week that the Omicron wave has peaked and that the COVID restrictions are being adapted and updated. For our church, it will mean that we no longer have to limit the 10am service to 100 people and there is the possibility in the near future that all our morning services can be combined again. […]

As many of you may know, the Southertons have been in isolation this week because COVID managed to sneak into our family. (We're all doing well so far. Thanks for asking!)
It has meant that I've been back to working from home and unable to be physically present with the team at Tory Street. If you know me then you will know that this isn't my preferred way of being! (Did someone say FOMO?) […]

When we began City on a Hill we sought to be a church that did three things:
Teach the Bible
Love People
Not be weird (I can explain more about this one later!)
With COVID in the community and so many sick and isolating, we have the responsibility and privilege to love and serve those around us.
According to Paul, love is the defining quality of God's people.
"Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." Romans 13:8-10
We, as a church, also have the ability to leverage the strength of our community to serve those around us.
If you are in need, or you know someone else in need, please use this online form so we can share joy and privilidge to serve our community in love together.
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:23-25
Grace & peace,
Andrew

I remember the night when my Mum was watching the old medical TV show ER and it was interrupted to report that there was a large fire burning in one of the World Trade Centre buildings. For the next few hours we watch the events unfold as we tried to make sense of what was going on around the world on September 11, 2001. […]
