This week we’ve spent some time together as a staff team praying, thinking and planning for the year ahead, as well as just connecting as a team. Every year we spend a couple of days dreaming and scheming for the future, and asking God to do his work and show his glory through our weakness, and it’s one of my favourite things to be honest.
This year I think was our most wholesome staff retreat ever, as we spent the first day tramping in the Ōrongorongos together, stopping at the bridges to share our testimony, a Bible passage, and pray for each other.
Amidst the crazy busyness of this season - with so much to do to prepare for the Hutt launch before all the busyness of summer comes upon is - it was exactly what we needed. I started the walk feeling a bit frazzled - thinking about all the things I wasn’t going to get done this week - but quickly felt gratitude start to creep in and take over. I’ve always felt the hills around Wellington are excellent at reminding me that I’m much less important than I’d have myself believe.
We also spent the next day hearing from God’s word, planning, praying big prayers, dreaming big for the future - but maybe someone else can update you about all that another week, because I kind of want to just sit in that sense that God is big, and we are not, and it’s so good to remember that as we seek to do big things for his kingdom and glory.
So I guess I just want to encourage you to maybe stick the song below in your earbuds, get out in nature this week, and just spend time thanking God that He is big, and you are not, and resting in him to build his kingdom here in Wellington and beyond.
Grace and peace,
Claire
