As I've been working through 2 Timothy in preparation for our new sermon series, it has been abundantly clear that life and ministry for Paul was not straight forward. At the time he wrote he was at the end of his life, in chains and being abandoned by other believers.

In 2 Corinthians 11 Paul gives a candid account of his experiences,

"Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. […]

God's word is like a treasure hunt

We've really been blessed over the last few weeks by Paul's sermons on Psalm 119. I confess that often I feel like my time in the Bible can be a bit dry and dutiful but I think this comes from a misunderstanding of the whole exercise of spending time in God's word.

Pop-Up Church Hutt Valley

Often I am frustrated that our church doesn't have a building of our own. A home to host all our services and ministries that we can leave set up and ready to use.

But our lack of a permanent base does mean that we can be nimble and flexible and do things a bit more creatively.

Grief at not gathering

A really challenging part of life at the moment is dealing with constantly changing rules and expectations.

Sometimes those changes are small and of little consequence.
'Do I need to wear a mask here?'
'Is my favourite cafe open yet?'

There are some changes that do have a significant impact on our lives.
'Can the kids go back to school or can I go back to the office?'
